Dreams Don't Expire

Four Years Later, I’m Back Four years ago, I started this blog with absolutely no idea what I was doing. Then life happened. I stopped writing. I got busy. I worked. I grew. I changed. I made mistakes. I loved. I got my heart broken. I travelled. I ran marathons. I started businesses. I dreamed some more. And somewhere along the way, I turned 37. And now, four years later, I’m back. But I’m not the same woman who started this blog. I have lived a little more. Learned a lot more. And, perhaps most importantly, I have finally realised that there is no expiry date on becoming the person you always dreamed of being. Sixteen years after leaving college, I have gone back. At 37. I am currently studying a Diploma in  Public Relations and Diplomacy, while also pursuing  an Undergraduate in Business Administration. Because apparently, one credential isn't enough for this girl. 😂 But there is a bigger reason behind all of this; I have spent years doing what was necessary. Working...

THIS IS WHY I RUN...

Image
My story of running is one I have told countless times and will continue to tell. It's a story of effort and determination. It's been an inspiration to many and I hope to inspire more. Anytime someone asks me why I run, I'm tempted to show them this picture.  And yes,  this is why I run. This picture here was my awakening call that I needed to do something. This photo was taken in May 2019 during a friend's birthday. I remember crying myself to sleep the night it was sent to me. I just couldn't take it! I remember crossing my fingers my friend doesn't post it on Facebook, and fortunate enough, she didn't. Whoooaa.. I was mad at myself! I still remember it was on 22nd May, (60 days to my 30th birthday) when I talked to a friend and told her how I planned losing 12 kgs in 8 weeks.  I was 76, and I wanted to weigh 64 by my birthday. Crazy, right! Well, how did I get there in the first place. I actually don't remember but I began getting body conscious in 2015...

My First Time.....

Image
Remember back in the days in school , creative writing sessions? The teacher would ask us to write about our first time experiences. First day in school, first day at the National Park, first time on a plane and others. The topics would be exciting if it was something you had done, like first day in school; but challenging if you had to use your creative imagination for things you had never done. It's a Friday , so we still can throw it back, Flash back maybe  .... I'm going back to the year 2016, in the month of August. That's when I had my first time . Yes, my first time out of the country 😊  I know what you were thinking, sorry ... hahahaha. In this year, I was working in a private school as an admin Assistant ( bursar, secretary and errand person) and also volunteering for a certain local NGO. The said NGO was holding a Campaign through Walks to Create awareness  on conservation across East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania & Uganda) and I knew that was the perf...

Introducing myself..

Image
So, tell me(us) about yourself...... I must admit this is the hardest question you'll ever pose to me.  Sometimes I ask myself who I am and in every instance I'm a different person. Lets just say the response depends on the current mood. So, whats my mood like today? I am excited and anxious in equal measure. I have always wanted to put my thoughts and experiences into text (writing) and here I am, today is the day I begin -excitement. I cant' explain the anxiety 😊 My name is Leah Wairimu Maina. I hate my first name,I rarely introduce myself by it. Given a chance to choose a different one, I'd take Jasmine. Recently, the name Lady Vibrant has gained popularity. a couple of weeks ago, someone asked me , "why Lady Vibrant ?" its a simple explanation Contrary to the title Lady  I am girl. I like to identify myself as a girl because I refuse to "grow up" . I want to remain this weird and quirky girl. I don't attribute to the adage of "inner chi...
